Michigan may enjoy the Great Lakes, but Texas visitors can enjoy one of six Highland Lakes. The Highland Lakes are situated along the Colorado River and were completed in 1938.

After severe flooding in the 1930's, Llano mayor Roy Inks worked with the Lower Colorado River Authority on dam projects to promote flood control.
While functional in purpose, the recreational benefit of Inks Lake is obvious.

Located in the second most popular Texas State Park, Inks is an 830-acre body of water with fishing and boating in abundant supply. Geological formations of beautiful pink gneiss and ancient rock strata provide amazing sights for boaters.

If wildlife is your cup of tea, the white-tail deer are plentiful. Hiking trails and a nine-hole golf course fill out the park and make it a place the entire family can enjoy.
